Titanium- the Alternative choice
August 5, 2011 By Elizabeth 1 CommentTitanium is on the up and up for wedding bands, especially with men. Most men pick this as their wedding band because of the low cost and light weight of the metal.
Titanium is a low density, strong, corrosion-resistant metal with a silver color. This metal will be great in chlorinated/chemically treated hot tubs and pools as well as sea water. Titanium is also a great hypo-allergenic choice as well, so someone who is susceptible to a silver or white gold allergy will be just fine!
One of the most useful properties of titanium is having the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any metal. It can be as strong as some steels, but 45% lighter in weight!
Because of the unique nature of titanium, resizing is not an option. Make sure to use great care and caution when picking out the size band to order. In some extreme cases, wedding bands are cut off. This can happen with excessive weight gain, having an allergic reaction or a hand or finger injury. Titanium can be cut, but requires a more difficult process compared to white gold or platinum.
