Save the Date! Colonial Jewelers is hosting its next Wedding Band Event on September 21 - 23. If you’re engaged, celebrating an anniversary this fall, or have a ring fetish (we’re not judging!), this event is for you! With over 200 styles to choose from, consider Colonial your one-stop-shop.

Spoiler alert: remember your discount card for wedding bands if you purchased your diamond engagement ring from us. And once you purchase both wedding bands, we will have a special wedding gift for you before your big day!

THE PROCESS

Start Early

Trust us – with wedding planning in full swing, wedding bands are easily swept to the bottom of your extensive to-do list. Remember that your bands will be the most enduring aspect of your wedding budget, and you’ll want to select just the right pairing that will beautifully commemorate your love for many years to come!

We recommend stopping by our showroom at least 3 months before your big day to make your selection. This allows plenty of time for your bands to be sized or ordered. If you’re considering a custom design, consider beginning the process earlier, so that our in-house Custom by Colonial department can work their magic to create the bands you envision.

Book an Appointment

No one likes to feel rushed. Your wedding band experience should feel special, and our sales associates want to be there for you to answer all your questions and, of course, try on as many options as you’d like. Plus if you book ahead of time for this event, you’ll receive $100 off your purchase!

THE SELECTION

Choose your Metal

With so many options on the market, it can be difficult to determine which is best for you. One key thing to note is that precious metals (gold, silver, platinum, palladium) can be resized while all other metals would need to be remade in the future. If you are sentimental and wish to wear the exact ring from your wedding day all your life, precious metal is the way to go.

Consider your Lifestyle

Most people wear their wedding bands every day, and you’ll want to keep in mind the types of activities your ring will withstand on a daily basis. For instance, if you work with your hands, an alternative metal like cobalt chrome will give you the shine of white gold, but with a bit more scratch-resistance. If you are rough on your jewelry, you may choose a more simplistic design that will require less maintenance to prevent damage and premature wear.

Comfort

Speaking of every day, make sure that the wedding band you love feels natural on your hand. Test out several styles in-store to – quite literally – get a feel for your ring.

To Match, or Not to Match?

Traditionally, couples have chosen a matching wedding band set to signify their unity in marriage. But if that isn’t your style, here are a couple of other options to maintain this symbolism:
  • Choose bands that are made of the same metal
  • Engrave a special message inside each band
  • Choose a design element i.e. a pattern or gemstone that ties the two bands together
Shop with your Engagement Ring

This one may seem obvious, but be sure to wear your engagement ring when you shop for wedding bands. Not only will you want to try on all your favorite designs, but you’ll also want to see how each style of band sits next to your engagement ring. Not to mention that our staff would love to clean your ring while you’re here!

Hello, Stacking!

Don’t stop at just your wedding ring: explore several of your favorite options.
If you can’t decide on just one, get both! Many brides are choosing to start off with the stack of their dreams because why wait? Or add styles to your wishlist, so that he can surprise you on your anniversary (or maybe a little sooner as a wedding day gift)!

Think of the Future

Whether it’s a wedding ring, anniversary ring, or Mother’s ring, these pieces of jewelry represent your love and commitment to those you hold dear. With 75 years in business, we embrace linking the past, present, and future. We want you to be able to share your tradition and heritage with your future family, so we encourage you to bring your jewelry back to us for a semi-annual inspection. This allows us to check for loose stones, perform necessary repairs, and of course, keep your jewelry looking beautiful!
