Fashion Forward in Frederick

Spring’s almost neon palette brings out the fun in fashion. This palette was inspired by the 1970’s, First Ladies and the Far East. This season’s bright alternative gemstones are the key to high fashion looks. Neon blue lapis, like the earrings pictured below, adds an electric look to any outfit. Mix it up with contrasts of warm and cool tones!
For a fiery look, these earrings have the glow of carnelian, yellow gold and diamonds to dress them up. Carnelian is in the agate family. Agate comes in a range of colors from warm to cool. It was also said to be the gem of protection in many cultures. Carnelian is also used in the popular jewelry line, Pandora. Pandora is an affordable way to layer it up for a high fashion look.
It is not surprising that almost all the colors used this spring are named after flowers such as poppy, lilac and daffodil. Our lilac blue chalcedony is an example of this. This ring is set in white gold and surrounded by diamonds. It is perfect for garden parties, wedding receptions and cocktails. It would be noticed at a dinner outside for it’s unique color and sparkle.
Another gem in the agate family is Chrysoprase. Chrysoprase set in yellow gold displays the perfect interplay of warm and cool tones. The stones in these pieces are set in yellow gold and give the wearer the illusion of being extremely tan. Chrysoprase looks a lot like jade, it’s expensive counterpart from the Orient. Yellow gold is back and nothing plays with bright colors as well as the richness of yellow gold.
