What Kind of Appointment Should I Make?

What Kind Of Appointment Should I Make?

By: Susan Summers

Are you looking to visit Colonial Jewelers to have something done, but you're not sure what category it might fall under, or if you need an appointment? First of all - you're always welcome to walk right in to our showroom in Downtown Frederick, with or without an appointment. We'd love to see you whenever it's most conveient for you - if you happen to be downtown and have time to come in, we'll be happy to help you.

We do reccommend making appointments when you know you want to work with a specific sales associate, and especially on a Saturday, just so we can ensure you get that special one-on-one time with them for the full Colonial experience.

Below you can find a breakdown of our appointment types, and when you're ready, you can book an appointment here. We can't wait to see you!

Engagement Ring Appointment

— purchase an engagement ring

— create a wishlist of engagement ring styles you like for your significant other to later access

— remount your center stone, or take a stone from a different piece of jewelry and put it into a ring

What to bring: inspiration photos, heirloom stones you’re hoping to reset, finger size if you have it (and if not, we'll measure it!), an idea of a budget that you’re comfortable with

Diamond Upgrade Appointment

— upgrade your center stone size

— change the shape of your center stone

— switch to a different gemstone

What to bring: your current ring and any documentation you have in the way of previous appraisals. This helps us determine a trade-in value for your original center stone, if applicable, and is helpful if you’d like to stick to a similar color and clarity grade.

Jewelry Appointment

— shop our selection of fine Diamond and gemstone fashion jewelry

— browse gold and sterling silver options

— take a look at our unique and evergrowing estate collection

— find the perfect gift, and get help based on who you're shopping for and what the occasion is

What to bring: Yourself and any outfit photos or neckline descriptors that can help us pair the right piece to your attire. If you’re looking to surprise a special someone, a photo of them that showcases their individual style can be helpful as well.

Wedding Band Appointment

— choose your wedding rings

— shop for a surprise anniversary ring

— create a wishlist for your spouse for future occasions

— try on different styles and build the ultimate ring stack

What to bring: Just your beautiful engagement ring, or wear the rings that you are hoping to pair your new one with. This not only helps in terms of visualizing your “final look,” but also helps the sales associate to accurately size your new ring based on what else you’re wearing with it.

Custom Jewelry Appointment

— create a bespoke piece of jewelry from scratch

— reset heirloom Diamonds or gemstones into a new piece

— create a replica of a piece you have in a different setting

— design curved wedding bands to fit your engagement ring

What to bring: Any Diamonds or gemstones that you’re looking to reset, an idea of what type of piece you’d like to create (i.e. necklace, earrings, bracelet), look through our Custom by Colonial design gallery for inspiration, and a comfortable budget so that the sales associate can navigate the best direction for creating your piece.

In-Store Pick Up

— Picking up your jewelry! The associate who helped you would love to see you when you come to pick up your piece whether it’s new or something we repaired for you. Don’t be shy — set up an appointment under their name on our website, or ask for them when you arrive.

What to bring: Your pick up receipt or your ID.

Repair Take-In

— get an estimate on any repair to your jewelry

— size your ring

— pearl restringing

— convert earring backs

— change clasps

— chain soldering

— heirloom jewelry restoration

— watch repair

What to bring: Your jewelry! Please note that depending on the piece and the work anticipated, we occasionally will take your jewelry in for an estimate with our master jeweler. This is done in order to provide the most accurate assessment of your jewelry’s condition and to give you the best price point possible.

Endless Permanent Bracelet

— permanent bracelets

— solder them back on in case you’ve had to remove yours. Please note: we do not solder bracelets not from Colonial due to our equipment only being verified for the metals and alloys in our bracelets.

What to bring: Yourself! You can even make it a group event and bring a few friends along. Appointments are best for those cases.
