A Heartfelt Message to Our Frederick Community
Dear Frederick,
2023 has been an incredible year: from special events, grand openings, and new opportunities to give back, there’s been so much to celebrate, and we’ve enjoyed the ride! Here’s just a little recap of our 75th year in Frederick:
Our Favorite Highlights from 2023
Em(brace)let Program Relaunch
We began the year with a reintroduction of our Em(brace)let program, which originally launched in 2020 to raise funds and awareness for organizations that do so much for the Frederick community. Originally a limited-time release, a full restock made each charity’s bracelet available again so these organizations can receive even more love. We’ll continue to launch new bracelets, with 100% of proceeds going directly to their cause.
Downtown Frederick Wedding Walk
In May, we brought back the Downtown Frederick Wedding Walk, where couples got to meet wedding vendors and win prizes toward their big day! The highlight? A cake dig inside a stunning multi-tiered cake by Sage Cakery, with participants eager to uncover the grand prize.
Celebrating 75 Years at the Weinberg Center
On May 24, Colonial Jewelers hosted a meaningful event at the Weinberg Center for the Arts to honor our 75th anniversary. It was a beautiful tribute to everyone who helped make Colonial what it is today and a special moment as Sarah Hurwitz Robey took the helm from her parents, Jeff and Patty Hurwitz.
Supporting Local Artists
After extensive renovation, a new arts complex opened at 1–11 North Market Street in late May. The space features rotating works by local artists with plans to include a tribute to Albert Hurwitz, lifelong art educator and arts supporter. This addition continues our mission to invest in Frederick's creative community.
First Responder First Fridays
In September, Jeff, Patty, and Sarah launched First Responder First Fridays, where they serve free lunch to Frederick County First Responders to thank them for their dedication and service.
