Hi! I’m Sarah, the manager of Colonial Jewelers. I feel blessed every day to have such a wonderful opportunity to carry on the Colonial Jewelers tradition in Frederick. I have always been fascinated with gems and gemology. My father, Jeff, is a gemologist and I grew up studying his charts and books and when I was lucky, actual gems. I used to play store as a kid and made my own jewelry to sell on the sidewalk in front of our old location at 9 West Patrick Street.
I worked part time at Colonial even before I had my driver’s license. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University, earning my degree in Business Administration. I am also a Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America. But I believe my real education began the day I came back to Frederick and began working full time at the store in 2003.
I love having the opportunity to learn every day from my Dad and my Mom and Mary Ann… all of whom have taken care of me along the way and are incredibly valuable to me at work and as friends.
I am so proud of our staff at Colonial Jewelers. They make me smile every day and I genuinely like each and every one of them for the dynamic, caring people they are. They are the glue that holds it all together.
When not working, I enjoy being outdoors, riding my bike, playing with my two loving puppies and spending time with my husband and those that I love.
I think I have the best job in the world. I get to share a small part in many different wonderful life moments for people and feel their joy. …and I still get to play with gems!!
