Not Her Mother’s Pearls… Bridal jewelry takes on a new look
October 5, 2011 By Kimberly No CommentsSymbolizing purity and innocence, strands of white pearls have been a long-standing tradition in bridal jewelry dating back to 600 BC. In recent years, though, brides have put a new spin on this timeless tradition. Some choose to wear a single pearl, possibly accented by a diamond. Others take an even bolder step away from tradition and wear colored pearls, such as Black Tahitian or South Sea Golden pearls. But, personalization of bridal jewelry doesn’t have to stop there.
Today’s bride can make a bold statement by dressing up her wedding day look with colored gemstones. Sapphires are a great “something blue” that will catch the eyes of all guests. Or maybe, she’ll choose to wear Emerald because it is her birthstone. Perhaps, instead, it will be Amethyst because purple is her favorite color. Possibly, though, she could choose rubies to coordinate with the red in her bridesmaids’ dresses.
Regardless of the reasoning behind it, today’s bride can use her wedding day jewelry to express herself like never before.
