How often should I have my jewelry inspected?
June 21, 2011 By Lorraine No CommentsThere are always questions of how often to bring jewelry in to be checked and cleaned. The average time is 3-6 months. Some rings may need to be checked more often (for example an engagement ring with many small side stones). Others may only need to be checked once a year (for example a pair of earrings only worn on special occasions). When you bring your jewelry in to be checked, our employees will always loupe the jewelry making sure that the prongs are sufficient and there are no cracks, missing stones, or other issues. Most often jewelry is brought back to me to be checked further and for loose stones before cleaning. We will only clean your jewelry if everything seems okay. The process that we use to clean involves a heated ultra-sonic machine and a powerful steam cleaner, therefore a ring that examines tight before cleaning may end up having loose stones afterwards. Usually a simply refinishing is all it takes to restore the jewelry to just-right condition.
If you ever have a concern about your jewelry, just bring it in! We are always more than happy to take a look.
